BATON ROUGE, La. – The Louisiana National Guard provided ceremonial support during the inauguration of Gov. John Bel Edwards at the Capitol in Baton Rouge, Jan. 11, 2016, including many of the sights, sounds and ceremonial flair.
The 1st Battalion, 141st Field Artillery Regiment, also known as the Washington Artillery, fired a 19-gun salute and their color guard, in 1838-style uniforms, presented the flags. The 156th Army Band played during the ceremony and a joint honor guard, with Guardsmen representing the Army and Air Force, lined the steps Gov. Edwards walked to be sworn in. The Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing flew four F-15s over the Capitol to close the ceremony.
As governor, Edwards will serve as the commander-in-chief of the Louisiana National Guard.
