La. Guard engineers set to deploy
NEW ORLEANS – Friends and family members gathered to say farewell to Soldiers from the Louisiana National Guard’s 922nd Horizontal Engineer Company and the 205th Engineer Battalion during deployment ceremonies held Jan. 31 at the Lamar Dixon Expo Center in Gonzales, La., and the university center of Southeastern Louisiana University in Hammond, La.

More than 150 Soldiers with the 205th, based out of Bogalusa and Hammond, and an additional 150 Soldiers from the 922nd, based out of Gonzales, will conduct a 365-day deployment to Kuwait to utilize their expertise and versatility to provide command and control of engineer construction operations in the Kuwait Theater of Operations.

The 205th and 922nd will conduct mobilization training together at Fort Bliss, Texas, before deploying overseas together.

These units have participated in numerous response and recovery operations in this state, as well as deployments overseas.
