Louisiana National Guard Freedom of Information (FOIA) Request
To Submit Louisiana Air National Guard (LANG-ANG) Freedom of Information (FOIA) request:
Air National Guard FOIA requests are not processed by Louisiana Air National Guard Personnel. All requests are forwarded to the Air National Guard FOIA Office in Arlington, VA. The Air Force has established a centralized Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) website for submitting requests online.
All requests for ANG records, except Inspector General Records, are processed by one office. Click on the following AF eFOIA Public Access Link (PAL): https://efoia.cce.af.mil/app/Home.aspx
Once there, we recommend you review all the links listed on the left side as they have been designed to provide information and guidance. In your request, please indicate the state/Wing that you are seeking records from.

To submit a Louisiana Army National Guard (LANG-ARNG) Freedom of Information (FOIA) request:
To submit a request under FOIA, label your request “Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).” In your letter you must state your willingness to pay applicable fees. To ensure the proper processing of your request, describe the specific records you are requesting in sufficient detail so that we can locate the information requested in a reasonable amount of effort and time.

To submit a Public Records Request
In accordance with Louisiana’s Public Records Law (La. R.S. 44:1 et seq.), individuals seeking access to public records held by the Louisiana Military Department may submit a Public Records Request via email. Requests should be as specific as possible and must include the requestor’s full name, contact information, and a detailed description of the records being requested.

How to submit a Louisiana National Guard Privacy Act (PA) Request
1. Determine Your Component
- Louisiana Army National Guard (LANG-ARNG) requests should follow the instructions below.
- Louisiana Air National Guard (LANG-ANG) requests should be submitted via the Air Force Privacy Act portal: Privacy Act Request (af.mil).
2. Prepare Your Request
Label your request clearly as:
“Privacy Act (PA) Request”
To ensure proper processing:
- Be specific when describing the records you seek.
- Include:
- Your full name and current mailing address.
- A valid form of identification (e.g., a photo ID or driver’s license).
- A detailed description of the record(s) you are requesting. Include information such as:
- Document title or subject matter
- Approximate dates
- System of Records Notice (SORN), if known (System ID and System Name)
- Only the individual to whom the record pertains may request it.
3. Sign and Certify Your Request
Your request must include a signed statement—either notarized or submitted as an unsworn declaration under penalty of perjury in accordance with 28 U.S.C. § 1746:
If inside the U.S.:
“I declare (or certify, verify, or state) under penalty of perjury that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on (date). (Signature).”
If outside the U.S.:
“I declare (or certify, verify, or state) under penalty of perjury under the laws of the United States of America that the foregoing is true and correct. Executed on (date). (Signature).”

5. Disclosure Guidance (Per Army Regulation 340-21)
Do not request the following without proper consent, as disclosure is restricted:
- Home addresses or telephone numbers of individuals (requires written consent).
Information that may be released under FOIA/PA includes:
Military Personnel:
- Name, rank, date of rank, base pay, special pay (not including BAQ or VHA)
- Official duty assignments (present and past)
- Office or duty telephone number
- Source of commission, promotion history, decorations
- Military/civilian education level
- Note: Lists of addresses/phone numbers cannot be released if requested for commercial solicitation purposes.
Civilian Employees:
- Name, current and past position titles, grades, salaries, and duty stations (including office phone numbers)
- Note: Bulk lists of employee data will not be released. Refer to AR 340-21 for detailed guidance.
