NEW ORLEANS – Trooper Willie Edly Jr., national president of the 9th and 10th Horse Cavalry Association, Trooper Milton Wiltz, president of the 9th and 10th Horse Cavalry Association Greater New Orleans Chapter 22, and Brig. Gen. Barry D. Keeling, director of the joint staff of the Louisiana National Guard, unveil a commemorative plaque during a ceremony to recognize the consolidation and formation of the 25th Infantry Regiment at Jackson Barracks on July 24, 2013, at the Ansel M. Stroud Jr. Military History and Weapons Museum. The 25th Infantry Regiment would serve at Jackson Barracks from April 1869 until April 1870, when it was ordered to San Antonio for replenishment and service in scouting, escorting, guard duty and road building prior to involvement with both Indian and Mexican militia forces along the Rio Grande border.
