NEW ORLEANS – Veterans and descendants of Soldiers of the U.S. Army 25th Infantry Regiment view a case of Buffalo Soldier memorabilia after a ceremony to commemorate the consolidation and formation of the 25th Infantry Regiment at Jackson Barracks in New Orleans, July 24, 2013, at the Ansel M. Stroud Jr. Military History and Weapons Museum. The 25th Infantry Regiment would serve at Jackson Barracks from April 1869 until April 1870, when it was ordered to San Antonio for replenishment and service in scouting, escorting, guard duty and road building prior to involvement with both Indian and Mexican militia forces along the Rio Grande border.
