By Louisiana National Guard Public Affairs Office
NEW ORLEANS – The Louisiana National Guard conducted response operations following severe weather that caused widespread power outages and water advisories across Northwest Louisiana over the past week; more than 200,000 citizens were affected by the outages.
As with any response, the LANG was prepared to provide support to civilian authorities throughout Louisiana to save lives, protect key assets and ensure the health and public safety of the citizens of Louisiana.
In total, Guardsmen delivered and/or distributed a total of 75 pallets of water bottles to four parishes … totaling 67,500 liters of water. Additionally, the LANG delivered two generators to maintain functionality of municipal water systems and other civil services.
Louisiana’s National Guard service members are trained, ready and equipped to stand up at any moment to protect lives and property, maintain communications and ensure the continuity of operations and government.
