La. National Guard set to welcome home Soldiers
BATON ROUGE, La. –The Louisiana National Guard is scheduled to welcome home members of the 239th Military Police Company at the Baton Rouge Metropolitan Airport in Baton Rouge, La., Dec. 17.
More than 70 Soldiers from the 239th, based in Carville, will return from their 365-day deployment to Iraq in support of Operation New Dawn. Approximately 40 Soldiers from the unit returned home throughout the state Wednesday in an effort to get the unit members home as soon as possible.
The 239th conducted numerous missions to include Police Transition Training for Iraqi law enforcement officers, stability operations and law enforcement operations.
The 239th operations were essential to stabilization operations in Iraq.
