Louisiana Air Guard personnel deploy to Southwest Asia

BELLE CHASSE, La. – Members of the Louisiana National Guard’s “Bayou Militia” bid farewell to families and friends during a deployment ceremony held at the Naval Air Station, Joint Reserve Base, New Orleans, VR54 Hangar in Belle Chasse, La., June 21.
Approximately 250 Guardsmen of the Louisiana Air National Guard’s 159th Fighter Wing are deploying to Southwest Asia in support of Overseas Contingency Operations.
Governor Bobby Jindal and Brig. Gen. Glenn H. Curtis, adjutant general of the Louisiana National Guard, were both in attendance and reassured families that their Airmen were well trained, and that they were confident the Airmen would do their families and the nation proud.
The Louisiana Air National Guard is comprised of more than 1,200 Airmen. While deployed these Airmen will be part of the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing. Their mission will include providing air superiority in support of national military objectives.
